Hyderabad – Telangana Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader and Member of Legislative Council (MLC) K. Kavitha strongly criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for canceling his visit to Warangal, alleging that he lacked the courage to face farmers who were prepared to hold him accountable for unfulfilled promises.
Speaking at the launch of a poster for Telangana Jagruthi’s global Women’s Day event in Hyderabad, Kavitha attacked Gandhi, claiming that his much-publicized “Warangal Declaration” had failed to materialize, leaving farmers in distress. She asserted that he feared tough questions from the farming community regarding his party’s commitments.
“The Congress party has failed to keep its pledges to farmers, and Rahul Gandhi knows this. That is why he avoided visiting Warangal. The people are tired of Congress leaders from Delhi—Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and Sonia Gandhi—making false promises and then disappearing after elections,” said Kavitha.
She further accused Congress of betraying women voters by failing to implement policies that were promised during election campaigns. Highlighting the struggles of Telangana’s women, Kavitha urged the Congress-led government to act on its commitments instead of relying on token gestures.
“After securing women’s votes, the Congress has done nothing to empower them. Their silence on key issues affecting women proves their lack of sincerity,” she added.
This latest political clash comes amid increasing scrutiny over the Congress party’s governance and the effectiveness of its electoral promises. Farmers’ groups in Telangana have repeatedly voiced concerns over unfulfilled assurances regarding minimum support prices, loan waivers, and other agricultural reforms.
Kavitha’s remarks are expected to fuel further political debates as both BRS and Congress gear up for upcoming electoral battles in the state.
